Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship offers a flexible possibility to acquire new vocational skills. It can also be used for completing previous unfinished studies or deepening competence. At Sataedu, in practice, all qualifications and parts of qualifications can be completed in apprenticeship training.

Apprenticeship training is available to you if

  • you have completed basic education, there is no upper age limit
  • you have found a job in the field, or
  • you are an entrepreneur in the field

Apprenticeship contract specifies

  • the essential work tasks
  • the working hours, at least 25 hours per week
  • the qualification and part of qualification to be completed
  • the duration of apprenticeship
  • the personal workplace instructor
  • remuneration

Study on the job

Apprenticeship training mainly takes place in the workplace. The student learns by carrying out various work tasks related to the qualification. Competence is supplemented by theoretical studies.

The employer pays the student a salary in compliance with the collective agreement. Possible losses of earnings incurring during the theoretical studies may be partly compensated with studentsʼ social benefits. Studentsʼ social benefits include

  • daily allowance
  • family allowance
  • accommodation allowance
  • travel allowance.

These matters will be agreed upon when preparing the apprenticeship contract in the workplace.

Apprenticeship enhances the professional skills of the enterprise

When hiring a new employee, apprenticeship is a good option for the employer. Apprenticeship can be used for developing the staffʼs competence or for training staff members for new tasks.

A training compensation is paid to the employer. The amount of compensation varies according to the training needs. The employer may contact an Employment and Economic Development Office and apply for pay subsidy for hiring a person who is unemployed or an employee threatened by unemployment.
